Check-in

Checking in at Distant Drums was a smooth experience. Although we arrived after hours and the office was closed, we had called ahead, and the staff made sure to leave information outside the office door for us. The packet included a map with our site number highlighted, along with the code to access the main building, which houses the showers, laundry, and gym. This thoughtful setup made our arrival seamless and stress-free.

Site

One of the standout features of Distant Drums RV Resort is that it’s the only RV resort in the Verde Valley with concrete pads. This makes a huge difference, especially when it comes to comfort and stability. The concrete pads prevent the common issues that gravel or dirt sites can cause, like dust, mud, or uneven surfaces. This feature is a big draw for many RV travelers, and it ensures a clean, smooth spot to park your RV throughout your stay.

For our visit, we stayed at site 156, one of the seven sites specifically dedicated to smaller RVs. These sites, located on the lower level of the resort, provide a bit more seclusion from the larger RVs. This extra privacy was a nice touch, offering a quieter and more peaceful environment. The smaller sites are also conveniently positioned next to the entrance of the main building, which provides easy access to the resort’s facilities like the showers, laundry, and gym. It made our stay even more convenient, allowing us to quickly get to all the amenities we needed.

Amenities

Distant Drums RV Resort offers a long list of amenities that truly set it apart and make it our favorite place to stay. One of the first things we appreciated was the free trash pick-up on site, which made disposing of our waste incredibly convenient without needing to drive to a dump station. Additionally, the resort offers free cable TV and free WiFi, perfect for relaxing evenings or staying connected during our visit. The paved roads throughout the resort made navigating easy, and night security added a sense of peace, ensuring that our stay felt safe and secure. The heated pool and spa, open year-round, provided a fantastic spot to unwind, no matter the season. The fitness room allowed us to keep up with our exercise routine, while the full hook-up 30/50 AMP sites made sure we had all the necessary power for a comfortable stay.

The resort also boasts several other amenities that add to its charm and convenience. The immaculate private showers offered a refreshing way to start or end the day, and if you’re in the mood for a BBQ, grills are available for a small $5 fee. The large community room is perfect for socializing, equipped with a TV, DVD collection, and a foosball table for some friendly competition. The country store has a little bit of everything—from wine, beer, and t-shirts to RV supplies and locally made jams, jellies, and honey. For those with pets, the spacious dog run provided a great spot for our furry friends to play and stretch their legs. The immaculate laundry facility ensured we could easily take care of our clothes, and every part of the resort felt well-maintained and thoughtfully designed to enhance our experience.
