Our Amazing Haiku-Pauwela AirBnB: Your Perfect Maui Base

amazing Haiku-Pauwela AirBnB

Aloha, adventurers! We recently discovered the ultimate Maui home base with our amazing Haiku-Pauwela AirBnB, and we can’t wait to share the magic with you. This charming spot became our launchpad for exploring the island’s wonders, from the winding Road to Hana to the majestic Haleakalā National Park. With a seamless stay, a fantastic host, and a location that puts you right in the heart of Maui’s north shore, this AirBnB stole our hearts. Let’s dive into why this spot should be your next Maui getaway!

Booking Our Amazing Haiku-Pauwela AirBnB

We snagged this gem on AirBnB for 5 nights at a total of $2373, and it was worth every penny. Our host, Amy, reached out immediately after we booked, ensuring we knew the property wasn’t beachfront. I assured her we understood—we chose this spot as a base for the Road to Hana, Haleakalā National Park, and island exploration. Since we planned to stay at Disney’s Aulani the following week, we knew we’d have plenty of beach time there. Amy’s thoughtfulness set the tone for a fantastic stay, and her quick communication made us feel right at home.

The Location: Haiku-Pauwela and Beyond

Our amazing Haiku-Pauwela AirBnB sits in Haiku-Pauwela on Maui’s north shore. The town offers a quiet, local vibe with greenery. It suits travelers wanting an authentic Maui experience. A short walk from the gate leads to Baked on Maui. We loved the amazing breakfast and fresh coffee there. A 15-minute drive reaches charming Paia with shops and cafes. Paia has the best shaved ice on the island. Road to Hana fans love the spot—8 minutes from Mile Marker 0. You can beat crowds at all stops. Haleakalā Visitor Center is 1 hour, 15 minutes away. Sunrise or sunset trips work well from here.

Seamless Check-In at Our Amazing Haiku-Pauwela AirBnB

Check-in blew us away with its ease, even as first-time AirBnB users. Amy sent all the details ahead of time, including key codes for the door and back gate, along with her house rules—like no shoes inside, which we loved since we follow the same at home. When we arrived, we found a sweet surprise: a box of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, some other treats, and a guest book filled with notes from past visitors. We spent a cozy evening flipping through the book, picking up tips for our stay and feeling the aloha spirit from those who came before us.

The house itself checked all our boxes. The kitchen came fully equipped with everything we needed for meal prep, making it easy to whip up dinners after long days of exploring. The interior boasted an airy design with comfortable seating and beds that ensured we slept like babies. Outside, a picnic table and Adirondack chairs created the perfect spot for meals and late-night Uno games under the stars. The fence, decked out with colorful surfboards, added a playful Maui vibe that we couldn’t get enough of. Every detail made this space feel like a true home away from home.
