After securing a reservation for a five-night stay at the Hilton Moorea Resort & Spa, we were determined not to limit ourselves to the hotel’s restaurant for the entire duration of our visit. In pursuit of alternative dining options, I scoured various platforms, including Facebook groups, Google Maps, and TripAdvisor. Among the recommendations, one restaurant stood out—Rudy’s, a French establishment endorsed by a fellow poster. Join us as we explore the reasons behind choosing Rudy’s as our ultimate destination for a romantic dining experience.
Booking – Rudy’s Moorea
During our stay on Moorea, where we opted not to rent a car, we came across the convenient offering of complimentary shuttle services provided by various businesses for guests staying at local resorts. Rudy’s, the French restaurant that had captured our interest, was no exception, as I discovered when contacting the establishment.
Situated on Moorea, Rudy’s boasts a cozy and intimate atmosphere with a limited number of tables. As a result, it is advisable to make reservations well in advance rather than attempting to secure a table on the day of your desired dining experience. Recognizing this, I reached out to Rudy’s on our first night in Moorea, successfully booking a table for my wife and me on the second night of our stay.
Moorea Dinner
On the evening of our reservation, we strolled to the front of the resort property, guided by the instructions provided when we made our reservation. Standing just outside the resort gate, we joined two other couples who also had reservations. A minivan promptly arrived to transport us to Rudy’s, the French restaurant we had eagerly chosen for our dining experience.
Upon reaching Rudy’s, we immediately sensed the small and intimate nature of the space. Despite its compact size, the tables were thoughtfully spaced, preventing any sense of overcrowding between parties. The ambiance was set with dim lighting, creating a cozy atmosphere that allowed us to comfortably peruse the menu. The careful attention to detail in the restaurant’s layout and lighting added to the overall charm of our dining experience at Rudy’s.
Our choice for the evening centered around the filet mignon, accompanied by Potatoes Au Gratin and green beans. The filet mignon was expertly prepared, cooked to perfection according to our preferences and delightfully tender. What caught us off guard was the reasonable price of the entrée, priced at only $30, which was a pleasant surprise given the generally high cost of everything in French Polynesia. This was especially noteworthy when considering that ordering a filet mignon in the United States typically comes with a heftier price tag, often closer to $50. The affordability of the meal at Rudy’s added significant value to our overall dining experience.
Our dinner, along with the two other couples who were also picked up from our resort, was impeccably timed. We all concluded our meals around the same time, ensuring a seamless return to the resort without any of us having to wait for transportation. The synchronized timing added to the convenience and overall satisfaction of our dining experience.
Moorea Dinner – Final Thoughts
One of the highlights of vacationing in Moorea is exploring the off-property options, and Rudy’s stands out as an excellent choice for a romantic dinner. From the punctual shuttle service to the intimate ambiance and delicious cuisine, our experience at Rudy’s was truly delightful. So much so, in fact, that we returned two days later. This time, I tried the highly recommended Parrot Fish entrée, while my wife savored the duo of sea scallop and prawns Provençal. Would I recommend Rudy’s? Absolutely and unequivocally, yes!
